Our Code of Conduct

The BKW Group Code of Conduct is a binding set of rules for all employees as well as all external persons working on behalf of BKW.

It describes specific situations in everyday working life and helps us to make the right decision, even in difficult moments, in line with the law, societal requirements and our corporate principles. The basis for this is formed by our three core values: entrepreneurial, collaborative, forward-looking.

Principles of Conduct

We act according to these principles

How do we behave towards customers, business partners, clients, employees, shareholders and society? In its Code of Conduct, BKW sets out 14 principles:

• We respect law and legislation, and our actions are based on honesty, fairness and integrity
• We uphold universally recognised human rights in all our activities
• We are committed to attractive working conditions for our employees and uphold internationally agreed labour standards
• Our actions for the environment are based on the precautionary principle and continuous improvement
• We demand and promote initiatives for the development and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies
• We live by the same values and principles in the digital space as we do in everyday physical life
• We handle our business, material and personal data correctly and protect it
• We protect our assets and intellectual property
• In our business relationships, we stand against all forms of corruption, bribery and extortion
• We handle insider information carefully and avoid insider trading
• Our business and competitive conduct is fair and we are committed to open markets
• We are transparent in lobbying, political support (contributions and donations) and sponsorship
• We communicate proactively and transparently about business-relevant topics
• We make a significant contribution to the community

UN Global Compact

Responsible business practices

BKW is a participant in the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainability initiative for companies. In doing so, BKW commits to upholding ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. You can find out more on our sustainability page.

The BKW Group’s whistleblowing system is a confidential communication channel for employees, customers, business partners and other persons or organisations in contact with BKW. Via the “Integrity Line”, you can report observed or experienced behaviour that contradicts our Code of Conduct.
